Welcome to Day 15 of the Writing Challenge. While you start writing for today’s challenge and share with everyone about your pet or the pet you always wanted, you can also check the below topic that will help you improve your handwriting.
Another topic of the day – How to improve handwriting for adults?
Write about your pet or write about a pet you always wanted
Pet is another word of the most innocent existence in your life. People with a pet can closely relate to this feeling. The presence of a pet in your life is bliss in itself. They teach us how to be so compassionate, loving, and giving in the bond. The bond that a person shares with the pet is beyond words.
I remember how my grandmother had a pet dog named “Paakhi” which means bird. But she kept this name since she believed they are free, very loving, kind, and not bound by any selfish motives. I used to be very fond of Paakhi when I used to visit my grandmother in childhood. Paakhi is a memory now but the bond is something to cherish for life.
Today I will share a glance of my pet fishes named “Caramel” and “Pogo” who are very active all day and the orange little wonder just wants to grab my finger.
You can write about your pet or a pet you always wanted to add to your life. With this, let us move to another topic of the day.
How to improve handwriting for adults?
Nowadays we spend very little time writing and spend more time typing. Even for the courses we take online and we digitally want to store everything on our desktop, we prepare digital notes and save them. In such scenarios, our handwriting has gone astray.
Suddenly when we sit down to write something, we back off, as our handwriting has become worse from what it was previously. So it is very important to keep writing and improving our handwriting.
- Why do you think your handwriting is bad?
Handwriting says a lot about your personality. Before you want to improve your handwriting, you have to know how is your handwriting bad in the first place.
- Check the following points in your handwriting to get a better idea about your handwriting:
- Legibility
- Understandable
- Consistency in the size of the letters
- Clean strokes
- Spacing between the letters
- Line direction
Everyone has their unique handwriting and you should not lose that but make your penmanship better.
- Start writing on lined paper
When you start practicing your handwriting, do not write on plain pages. Start with a simple notebook and begin the journey. Check the height of your letters, flow, and pattern. Once you have continuously practiced for a minimum of one month, you can move to plain pages and practice. You will notice your improvement and it will be the beginning of the next stage of your practice.
- Cursive writing workbooks
During our childhood, we were given cursive writing tasks in our school to improve our handwriting. So why not try that today and make our handwriting become better. You can buy a cursive writing workbook and practice. Check each letter and the pressure you put to create it. You need to focus and practice. In cursive writing, we write by joining letters which is seldom a practice as we grow up. You can try Cursive Handwriting Practice Workbook for Adults which is good for improving your handwriting.
- Learn Calligraphy
Calligraphy is another way to improve handwriting. When we see someone putting down a post with calligraphy, we amuse ourselves with the art and think how difficult it might be to master it. Well, it can be difficult at the initial level but with practice and time, we all can learn. It is a great way to get motivated to practice writing. You can try a Calligraphy pen set and Workbook to get started and there are numerous videos and Udemy courses to learn calligraphy from the comfort of your home.
- Dedicate some time daily by keeping a journal or a diary
You need to dedicate some time to writing daily. Keep aside 15 minutes of your day for this activity. You can start writing a daily journal which can immensely help you create a writing habit. But make sure you are not just putting down your thoughts but constructively filling your journals so that it helps you improve your handwriting because that is your goal of using the journal. It will create a habit and if you write something that you feel interested in then it works like a useful strategy. I have written a post on writing a daily journal. Do check out if you like to know what to include in a daily journal.
- Write letters and ask for feedback
Getting feedback is very crucial if you want to improve anything. So why not write a letter to a person who has great handwriting. Send them a letter and later on, you can ask them about your handwriting and what they liked and what you can improve. You can also for feedback from people whose work you have admired like your mentor or team member or your family member who writes well.
I have mentioned letter writing as it might be interesting for you to write to someone rather than just practicing in your solitude. When you know you will be sending it to someone, you are conscious of what you write and you put the effort into your handwriting. On the other hand, someone is going to be happy with your effort.
- Analyze your progress
Keep track of your progress. You may want to write every day but we may have some problems someday and we may postpone it to the next day and sometimes we do not feel like practicing. We all want personal improvement but the process is tedious and there is no shortcut. So make sure you write daily and keep a track of it.
You can write a page with a date and create similar pages after every 15 days to see if your handwriting is improving. This way you won’t be stagnant on the progress and change your strategies to see improvement.
- Be comfortable with correct hand posture
Choose the correct hand posture. You must hold your pen properly and firmly. It impacts how well you can write so do not press too hard on the paper. Have a smooth grip and get to a correct and comfortable posture to hold your pen correctly. You need to find your way of writing which you can do once you have found your way of holding it and it will enhance the handwriting.
- Find a penmanship manual
Get hold of a good manual where you can learn to improve your handwriting. Below are some of the manuals which are good and can help you immensely:
–The Art of Cursive Penmanship
- Be consistent in your practice
Most important than any other strategy is being consistent in your practice. If you lose consistency, you will not be able to see progress and you might be just putting hours into it without finding real improvement. So commit to this activity and start writing. I am sure you will be successful in improving your handwriting with the right effort and ways.
To improve your handwriting, make sure you are consistently practicing in the right ways, taking feedback, and working on them.
