Day 6 – Writing Challenge – Write ten things you love regarding yourself?
Welcome to the Day 6 of the Writing Challenge. While you all get started and write for today’s challenge and share the ten things you love regarding yourself, also check the below topic. Let’s begin this journey and stay up till the end.
Another topic of the day – How to write a resume?
Write ten things you love regarding yourself?
“Why do you love me,” asked the butter from the knife.
“You are soft, not sharp like me. I feel so safe and happy with you.” said the knife
“You have been made to fulfill your mission and purpose which is very different than mine. You too are as valuable as I am.”
We all can be different and always think what if we have similar characteristics like the people we admire.
We are all unique in our ways which we seldom appreciate. That causes our self-esteem to go beyond the ground level and makes us believe we are not enough.
But the truth is we all are valuable and we all need to give ourselves the love we expect from others. Self-love is a necessity in today’s world where we are constantly comparing our lives to that of others.
We scroll down the social media posts and think of having the same life or same achievements. It shows us what we lack but that is not what is meant to be seen. Self-love helps us to see what we have and value that.
I want to highlight that no matter how small or big the good thing is, you need to acknowledge it. If you do not love yourself, you are always going to feel insecure and unhappy.
Every individual has more than ten things which they can acknowledge about themselves. Some people are overly critical about themselves and cannot see anything good in themselves, and want to become like someone else, who they are not. It shows the lack of acceptance of our true selves, which can never keep us happy.
Today’s challenge is to motivate you and find reasons to love yourself. You are creating a writing habit, and also, motivating yourself, and celebrating the person you are. I can highlight the ten things today but as it can seem to be too much of myself, let us stick to what you can write in your challenge.
Notice yourself – are you kind, compassionate, humble, loving, caring, confident, sensitive, happy, curious, pet-lover, helpful, skillful, calm, trustworthy, resilient, or hard-working. The list is endless.
Write down all the good you see in yourself.
- Are you forgiving?
- Do you have the patience to handle difficult situations?
- Are you enjoying little things in life?
- Do you help others move on in their life?
- Are you the kind of person who does not like to be mean and hurt others?
- Are you are the kind of person who gives time to family as well?
You do not have to be everything.
You have all the reasons to celebrate the person you are. When you write it down, you appreciate yourself and lessen the urge to get appreciation from others.
With this, I end today’s challenge. Stay happy, stay healthy!
How to write a resume?
A resume is the first impression that one gets about you. If the first impression gets wrong, the gate to further steps can get closed, and you might have to knock on another door. It forms the starting point to change a job, so we need to put effort and thought into it.
A good resume leads to good opportunities. We all want progress in our lives, and to move one step ahead to a better job, we need to have a better resume that stands out.
- Select a format and layout that fits your needs
Selecting the appropriate format plays a very crucial role. It helps display the information most legibly. Chronological format is one of the most popular formats where you can mention the most recent job first, and so on. The layout should show the details concisely and highlight important information first. It should communicate the information effectively to the employer.
Best places to find layout references:
There are many options available on Google Docs for your help. You can go to Google Docs and search in Templates Gallery.
You can sign up or log in to Figma (UX/UI Design tool) and go to Community to find references, which can help you decide the layout. You can search for “resume” in the community search bar. It saves a lot of time and gives impressive options to check.
You can also check the sample resume, which I have added below. Download it and use it as a reference.
Once you have decided on the layout, you can move to the next step. In the next step, you need to add details. When the employer gives a glance at the resume, they should see the reasons to provide the chance to prove themselves.
- Include your details
You need to include the following details:
- Name
- Designation at the current organization
- Contact no
- Email address
- Date of birth
- Location
- Share your profile links – LinkedIn, Behance link (if any)
- Write your professional and personal skills
- List down the skills you have
- Add related responsibilities you handled in that particular skill (optional)
- Expertise in related skills
- Work Experience
Include a resume headline where you can explain your skill and work experience in a sentence. You can also include a profile summary to explain your goals. Write about all the organizations you have previously worked in, starting with the most recent one. Include company name, location, start, end date, the roles, and responsibilities handled (briefly) at the organization.
- Education details
Below is the order of writing the education:
- Post-graduation (if any)
- Next highest qualification – Bachelor’s degree details
- Class 12th / Higher Secondary
- Class 10th / Matriculation
Add university name/school name, location, duration, and percentage obtained.
- Training
- Highlight the training you undertook that helped in your current role
- Include those you can thoroughly explain about
- Awards
You can include only the significant awards which you received during your professional tenure. Your achievements will give a good impression and highlight your potential. Do not include awards that you received long back and are not relevant in the current scenario.
- Write your interests
We communicate about ourselves through every point mentioned in the resume. Writing about our interests shall give a peek into our personality as an individual. You can write about those interests that are relevant to the roles you have been handling. For example, if you are applying to a creative role, try to mention one of the creative hobbies you like, i.e., Sketching.
- Extracurricular activities (Optional)
It includes those activities where you might have helped organize an event, and you handled crucial responsibilities. That shows your leadership qualities and that you are eager to learn new things and capable of handling difficult situations.
I have put this as optional as you have already mentioned the awards.
- Why me (Optional)
It is the space where you can show and highlight your strengths. Try to write 4-5 points about why they should hire you. If you can highlight that, they will want to know you more and about your work.
I have applied most of the points as in the above article and have seen positive results. The rest is upon you to crack the interviews and get the job. A resume will get you into the next phase (interviews), and you need to be ready with your skills to handle it.
Do not include any information in your resume that does not resonate with you.
