Another topic of the day – What to write in a Daily Journal?

What fascinates you about life and the people around you?

When we think about life and the people around that fascinates us, we can find many things. For me, in particular, is the sky. Yeah, it is everywhere, but do you notice the color during sunset, and during the sunrise. How birds fly in groups and ram freely in the sky. When it’s dark, how clouds embrace the moon and keep moving distant and far with passing time.

On a cloudy night, how sky gives the impression of a desert. Have you ever noticed it? On such nights, I feel like looking at the sky and stars and go to sleep. It is so peaceful. I know the sky filled with stars is nowadays not easy to spot in most places.

The existence of the Universe and how life exists differently on the planets fascinates me, and I am always curious to learn more about it. The rhythm in music, the flow of swings, and the truths of life. All fascinate me.

The thing about people around us that fascinates me the most is how each person’s life who crosses our paths is so amusing and different yet connects to us at some point. Everyone at the same time somewhere goes through a whole different experience and keeps going on.

Somewhere close

Life in itself is a fascinating shade that keeps showing different colors every time we look at it. Find out what fascinates you. With this, today’s challenge ends. Have a great day!

What to write in a Daily Journal?

Before we get to know what we should write in a daily journal, let us know why to write a daily journal.

Why write a daily journal?

Congratulations! You have taken the first step to observe yourself closely and enhance your mood and mental health. We need a daily journaling habit so that we can take care of ourselves.

We all go through a lot in our lives on the deeper level, which we do not bring on the surface level and keep living our life. It can be our office chaos, relationship problems, our low self-esteem, chaos at home, or career dead-ends. Soon the stress level comes to a point where we cannot bear it anymore and fall into the darkness of anxiety and depression, where it becomes hard for you to think good for yourself.

Gratitude

Most of the time, we pretend to be happy, but we might be going through a lot in our lives. This invisible cloak is with us each day from the time the alarm wakes us up, and we rush to the office till we come back totally exhausted and fall asleep. We need to become aware of it and observe it closely.

You do not need to keep aside how you feel. You need to acknowledge it and heal yourself from all that you have been going through. Nobody has to be perfect, and we all need to be self-accepting and have gratitude for all that we are and have in our life.

What to write in a daily journal?

  • For the beginners, start with writing about your day

Someone who is starting for the first time begins with writing about your day. Write whatever you liked today and appreciated. Focus on the small things that made you happy or remarkable things that changed your life. You can start writing anything that takes it off your mind and make you feel good. You will notice that it will brighten your mood, and on a gloomy day, you can turn the pages and look back at what you wrote.

  • Three things you are grateful for today

However good or bad our days go by, there are always three things you can be grateful for that day. It can be as simple as the stunning sunrise, peaceful coffee mornings, commendable workout, new flower blooms in the garden to appreciations in the office, compliments you get, some issues you resolved, or a dinner with family. There are innumerable reasons for you to be grateful for, so get that pen and write away about what made your day look like sunshine in the rain. Always believe that there is something good each day that happens in our life.

I am thankful for having a caring and loving mother

You can add pictures and quotes also to decorate it. It will make it compelling. But it is all up to you how you want to do it.

  • Three goals you want to achieve tomorrow

You can write down three goals for each day that you want to achieve – One for your career, another for personal relationships, and the other for self-improvement. It’s like taking baby steps towards healthy living where you nurture your mind and take care of yourself. The time you spend journaling is a time you spend with yourself and your peace of mind. So do not neglect it. It is very crucial for good mental health.

  • Any regrets for today

We are not perfect, so do not focus on being one. We all make mistakes. You can never achieve 100% perfection in everything you do. Not everything is under your control and believe me, once you start understanding that, you can forgive people and yourself and not burden your mind with regrets.

You can write about things you regret having done that day and promise yourself that you will learn from them and not repeat this mistake.

  • Ideas that strike your mind

You can write your ideas and thoughts that come to your mind and put it on paper. It is a helpful exercise for the creative mind to enhance problem-solving capabilities. Those ideas can later be manifested in your life and help you achieve great things. So, next time you get any thoughts or ideas about your work or life goals or problems, write them down.

Ideas
  • Bucket list

Live life like never before. You can create a bucket list by adding a few things each day that you would like to do, that excites you, and that you have always wanted to do. Attach the stickers and quotes that highlight its spirit. Make it lively.

Through the window, I see the petals falling to the ground directionless. While a few still hang on, to someday become insignificant. Live life while still alive.

Somewhere, Someday
  • How you feel today

Daily journaling is something personal to you. Whatever you write remains between you and the journal. So you do not have to wear an invisible cloak to hide your feelings. Write down exactly how you feel. Once you write down, you bring the burden out of your mind and heart and set your mind free. You can give your journal a name that makes it exclusive and yours.

Start daily journaling. After a few weeks, look back and see how you feel and what changes came in yourself and your life. Does it make you feel good? Notice how you feel and how it helps you when you spend quality time with yourself.

  • Affirmations

You can add affirmations in your daily journal. For example,

I choose to be happy.
I have the potential to heal completely.
I am confident.

And the list goes on. You can choose what affirmations you want to add to your mind and write it down. You do not just write it but, you need to believe in every word that you write. When we believe in ourselves, unexpected and amazing things can happen.

When to write a daily journal?

It all depends on you, but I do it at night before I go to sleep. I reflect on how was my day, and how I can make it better tomorrow. I write down my goals and three things that made me happy. If you think morning resonates more with your mind and you get most ideas during the day, do it then, but please make sure you do it at the same time daily. I have listed down points that you can include in your journal, but you do not need to do them all at once.

Do it at your own pace, but maintain the time. Keep aside 15-20 minutes of the day to yourself and have discipline in maintaining it.

Where to do daily journaling?

Find a quiet place or a comfortable spot where you can have your full attention to yourself. I would also recommend that you do it with pen and paper and avoid mobile or desktop applications. A single notification can cause distraction. Keep aside your phones and get set to go.

I use AmazonBasics Classic Notebook to do it. It is plain and has 240 pages at a very reasonable price. You can also check out the amazing Pennline Quikrite Classic Journal.

You can also buy a locked one if you want to make it more secure: Password Protected Journal.

I hope the article on “What to write in a daily Journal” excites you to start writing yours as soon as possible so that you can spend quality time with yourself.

I hope you also liked today’s writing challenge to write about what fascinates you about life and the people around you.
